Five people killed in wrong way driver accident on North Sam Houston Tollway in Houston
Harris County sheriff deputies are investigating a Houston car accident where at least five people, including four adults and one child, were killed when they were struck by a flat bed truck driver going the wrong way, deputies said.
A medical helicopter took a sixth person by life flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
It happened late Sunday in the westbound lanes of North Sam Houston Tollway near Wilson Road.
Deputies said the driver of a flat bed truck pickup got onto the tollway heading eastbound in the westbound lanes. He then struck a Ford F-150.
The offending driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The tollway’s westbound lanes remained blocked at John Ralston for several hours overnight but reopened just before 6 a.m. in time for the morning rush hour.
